“The standout tracks are almost without exception those including Arnór Dan Arnarson’s vocals, especially in ‘Old Skin’ where they stream angelic above the instrumentation.” via Drowned In Sound
These are simply in alphabetical order. It’s hard enough to rank my top 10, i don’t want to do it more than once a year. Enjoy all of these on Spotify, which i’ll continue to update throughout the rest of 2013. And with some highly anticipated releases still on the horizon, including new albums from Porcelain Raft, Smith Westerns, and Elton John, i’m sure this list will evolve.
But enough babbling, enjoy my favorite albums of 2013 (so far) and please check back in December to see which (if any) make the cut for my top 10 of the year.
The Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival will once again take over San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park later this summer. I highly recommend this festival. It’s like Coachella, just not as hot or expensive. Oh, and instead of being held in a miserable desert, it all goes down in one of the best cities in the world.
There are quite a few highlights from this year’s lineup, including The National, NIN, Paul McCartney, Phoenix, Yeasayer, and Willie Nelson. With that said, i’m probably most excited about Grizzly Bear, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Youth Lagoon, and Daryl Hall & John Oates!!!
It all goes down August 9-11, tickets and more festival info can be found here.
A few of my favorite new releases this week, including the latest from Javelin, Josh Ritter, and Youth Lagoon. As always, be sure to visit Largehearted Boy for more of the week’s new music. Enjoy.
