Star Slinger is one of my all time favorite producers. I enjoy pretty much every track he touches and his latest is no different. This particular track is a remix of Karma Kid’s “It’s Always”, which will be released as a 7″ on Aug 20th, courtesy of Just Us Recordings. Stream both the original and remixed below.
Electric Youth’s new single came out earlier this week and if you’re a fan of synthpop, you’re gonna love “The Best Thing”. The Toronto duo are probably best known for the best track on the Drive soundtrack (“a Real Hero”, along with College). I am a huge fan of that track, but i’m really happy to see them put out new stuff and build on their previous success. For this particular track, the duo worked with Vince Clark (Depeche Mode, Erasure, Yaz) and according to their facebook page, they plan on utilizing his expertise further on their forthcoming debut. Australian indie-darlings, Skipping Girl Vinegar have just released their critically acclaimed Chase the Sun EP in the US. The EP showcases singles ‘Chase the Sun’, ‘Here She Comes’, ‘Sift The Noise’ and ‘One Chance’, which all received heavy rotation across Australian radio. Lead single ‘Chase the Sun’ features the critically acclaimed ‘Monkey in Space’ film clip that has enjoyed extensive play on Australian music television, being award ‘Rage clip of the week’ and extended prime time play. The band (along with a team of cowboy scientists and artists) sent a discarded hobo toy monkey to the edge of space (110,000 ft AKA 4 x higher than Mt Everest) with the help of a giant weather balloon and camera to capture the flight in what is a must-see experience (enjoy the video below). The new EP is available now via Secret Fox Records.
Frankie Rose is riding high on the release of her critically acclaimed sophomore effort Interstellar. A mesmerizing mix of synth and dream pop, this has been one of my favorite albums all year. Needless to say, I was quite excited to find out about a collaboration between Ms. Rose and another favorite of mine The Go! Team. In the words of The Go! Team, “we did a cheeky remix of our label mate (Memphis Industries) Frankie Rose’s track ‘Apples For The Sun’.” You can stream and download it for free right here (and stream the original below).
