Doo-wop vocals, playful keys, and swaying sax all come together to create this fun and energetic diddy.

Ezra Furman – Lousy Connection [from Perpetual Motion People]

I want to be a videographer just so I can use this song in everything I produce. Pure cinematic brilliance. Easily my number one track of the year.

The Chemical Brothers – Wide Open (ft. Beck) [from Born in the Echoes] (via Spotify)

[bonus]♩ The Chemical Brothers – Wide Open (ft. Beck) (Kölsch Remix) [single]

Music is special. There’s nothing quite like discovering a new favorite song for the first time. I probably listened to this track ten times in a row when it first came across my desk. This track is truly mesmerizing and I for one can’t wait to hear more from this New York-based songstress.

OKAY-KAYA – I’m Stupid (But I Love You) [single]

Too hard to pick only one from my favorite album of the year. But since these tracks are so different, and SO GOOD, i’ll make the exception.

♩ Jamie xx – Gosh [from In Colour]

♩ Jamie xx – I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) (ft. Young Thug & Popcaan [from In Colour]

Haynie’s debut full-length was jam packed with big names, including Romy (The xx), Lykke Li, Devonte Hynes, Julia Holter, Father John Misty…just to name a few. But it’s the leadoff track with Mike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt and the one and only Brian Wilson that I can’t get enough of. Seriously though, this entire album is great and deserves a proper listen from beginning to end. Doo-wop vocals, playful keys, and swaying sax all come together to create this fun and energetic diddy.

[on repeat] Jamie xx//In Colour

JAMIE-xx-IN-COLOUR

I’ve had my grubby little hands on Jamie xx’s In Colour for the past week or so and i’m immensely delighted to announce it exceeds all of my expectations. Easily the front runner for my favorite LP of 2015 right now. I’ve always been a fan of Jamie and I love that his signature sound and production are all over this record. But what I love even more is the exploration and experimentation with new sounds and ideas that seems to be bursting out of the record. If you’re a fan of The xx and Jamie’s previous solo offerings, you’ve probably enjoyed In Colour multiple times already. If not, please, please, please, give it a whirl. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

In Colour is out June 1 on Young Turks.

[anticipation] Jamie xx//In Colour

Jamie_XX_vinyl_BW

Jamie xx will release his debut full length, In Colour, this June via Young Turks. The LP will include previously released singles “Sleep Sound” and “Girl”, along with a plethora of new tracks I can’t wait to get my greedy little ears on. In a recent interview with BBC Radio’s Annie Mac, Jamie discussed the new record and shared a new track, Loud Voices, which includes lovely vocals from fellow xx-er Romy. You can listen to that interview and song here. And if you can tolerate the signal test, you can hear bits of more new material at Jamie xx’s website.

In Colour tracklist (according to Fader, which took the time to decipher Jamie’s creative use of instagram, but may or may not be in the correct sequential order):
Gosh
Sleep Sound
See Saw [ft. Romy]
Obvs
Just Saying
Stranger in a Room [ft. Oliver Sim]
Hold Tight
The Rest Is Noise
I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) [ft. Young Thug and Popcaan]
Loud Places [ft. Romy]

JAMIE-xx-IN-COLOUR

UPDATE: In Colour is out June 1/2 and you can now check out two new tracks below (or via Spotify) – “Loud Places (ft. Romy)”, aka best b-side never produced by The xx, and “Gosh”, aka my new favorite Jamie xx track and final proof that he’s the best producer of my generation.
