Attn Long Beach Movie Lovers

The Art Theatre of Long Beach is an awesome little theater in Long Beach, CA where you can catch wide variety of films (independent, art, foreign, cult classics, etc.). Currently they are showing the must see The Fantastic Mr. Fox, directed by one of my favorites, Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Darjeeling Limited). Get there early, or stay late, and check out my favorite area in Long Beach (4th Street). Also, make sure you check out the Art Du Vin wine bar.

The Neon Lights Are Bright On Broadway

On a recent trip to NYC, I had the pleasure of seeing one of broadway’s newest productions, Memphis. The musical is loosely based on the story of Dewey Phillips, a Memphis DJ, one of the first DJs to play black music in the 1950s.

If you are in New York and have the chance to see Memphis, do it! This show is generating a whole lot of buzz and in 6 months it will be the show you can’t get tickets for. The music is fantastic and the dancing is superb.

Listen to some of the music from Memphis here!

yeah, i'm a comic book nerd too

Kick-Ass is an ongoing comic written by Mark Miller (Wanted, Superman: Red Son, Civil War) and illustrated by John Romita, Jr. The feature film adaptation will be released April 16, 2010. It tells the story of an ordinary New York high school student who uses his interest in comic books to become an actual costumed superhero. The comic is awesome, the movie looks great…I can’t wait.

I had the trailer embedded, but I couldn’t get it to stop playing automatically and that annoys the heck out of me. You should definitely check out the trailer though. It gives you just enough without ruining the story for you. Check out the trailer at Apple trailers
