[watch] J.Viewz//Salty Air

J.Viewz is the multi-genre electronica project of the Brooklyn-based Producer & Remixer Jonathan Dagan.  I’ve a bit out of the loop, so you may or may not already be familiar with the backstory of the recently completed album, rivers and homes, but here it goes anyways.

rivers and homes, is the result of his “Work in Progress” project, in which fans paid for the album in advance, and he released a new track every month or so.  Now that the the album is complete, he’s put together a beautiful 26 page booklet of artwork and lyrics to package it in, and mailed it out to his subscribers (order it here).

If you’re a fan of chill wave and such acts as Washed Out and Blackbird Blackbird, you’ll most definitely be a fan J.Viewz.  rivers and homes is set for release on September 5th, but in the meantime, enjoy the video for Salty Air.

[watch] The Art of Flight

The Art of Flight is the followup to 2008’s That’s It, That’s All.  Both are snowboarding films featuring Travis Rice, expensive Red Bull helicopters doing stuff they shouldn’t be doing, and crazy, good cinematography and production, courtesy of Brain Farm.  Now i’ve only seen the trailer for The Art of Flight, but if it’s soundtrack is anything like That’s It, That’s All, we’re in for a treat.  In fact, it was That’s It, That’s All which first introduced me to one of my favorite bands, M83.

And speaking of M83, as I was watching The Art of Flight’s trailer, I thought for sure it was a new M83 track from the forthcoming album (Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, out Oct 18th).  But alas, I was wrong…but not completely.  The track in question is called Fire Shall Devour Them by The Three Corners Of The Earth, and The Three Corners Of The Earth just happens to be a collaboration between Anthony Gonzalez from M83 and Curt Morgan from Brain Farm.

Anyways, be sure to check out the trailer below.  Even if you’re not a fan of snowboarding, I promise you’ll enjoy the video.

[watch] Sleeping in the Aviary//Infatuation

This video for Sleeping in the Aviary’s “Infatuation” gives you a sense of what the band is about. Bubbles, sombreros, sunglasses made out of American flag guitars, and a whole lotta sunshine captures the essence of “Infatuation” as well as the band’s upcoming full-length album You and Me, Ghost. Front man Elliot Kozel offers a few analogies to understand the record…

“Dion and the Belmonts with hangover trying to figure out how to use a Big Muff pedal”

“Bobby Vinton half drunk and yelling at you from the window of a passing car”

“The first time Ricky Nelson bled on his guitar”

“Del Shannon drunkenly climbing into a tree at 3 a.m. to drink cheap champagne with a beautiful girl”

“The Everly Brothers beating up some kid in the bathroom of a high-school gymnasium and then feeling bad about it later”

You and Me, Ghost is out September 6th on Science of Sound Records. As with each album Sleeping in the Aviary makes, the new album is a total departure from their previous three. What to expect from the band’s fourth full-length? “It’s got a fuzzed-out doo-wop feeling, and all the songs are about girls!”

[watch] Library Voices//Generation Handclap

New-York-area blogger, The Audio Perv, recently premiered brand new video for Library Voices’ Generation Handclap.

If you unfamiliar with Library Voices, they’re a seven-piece indie-pop outfit hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan.  They just finished up two fantastic shows in the Big Apple and hopefully they’ll be heading out West.  The video is about being young and having fun. It’s chalk-full of scenes that are just as fun to watch as they must have been to film (riding tandem bicycles, playing Pac Man in an arcade, and throwing a kegger) and showcase the “generation handclap” or “generation drunk text,” as coined by the lyrics of the song. [watch] Clock Opera//Belongings

Widely known throughout the blogosphere for their excellent remixes, the London based 4-piece, Clock Opera, are also quite the impressive live and electronic act.

Earlier this month saw the release of their new single, Belongings, on both 7″ and digital formats and I absolutely love this track!  Produced by front man Guy Connelly and already a highlight of their live set, it’s an incredibly beautiful and emotive song. Calling to mind the likes of Steve Reich, pianos dapple Guy’s dulcet voice, building to a euphoric crescendo before opening out into a cinematic vista of big sound and glorious harmonies.
