[watch] Porcelain Raft//Drifting In And Out

This video is about 6 months old, but I woke up with it stuck in my head (this is a good thing) and watched it for the first time today.  This is still one of my favorite songs of 2012.  If you haven’t listened to this, or the rest of Strange Weekend for that matter, you’re missing out big time.

[on the rise] Desert Stars

Desert Stars are a Brooklyn 5piece and i’m obsessed.  They remind me somewhat of Beach House, Frankie Rose, and Letting Up Despite Great Faults, but with a very distinct dreamy/shoegaze/lo fi sound, due in large part to Janelle Best’s impressive lead vocals.  As far as I can tell, the “Boys I Like/Farewell Decade” 7 inch split is their only official release, but they are currently in the studio recording their debut full-length due out Spring 2013.  In the meantime, enjoy the tracks and video for “Boys I Like” below, then head on over to their bandcamp page and show your support.  There’s a definite buzz growing in the blogosphere and I expect big things for Desert Stars.

This video is about 5 months old, but i’m quite obsessed with this track right now and the video is really well done (director Will Joines is also responsible for “The Night” music video).  “Passage” is from the album of the same name (one of my favorites of 2012…so far), available now on Secretly Canadian.
