sigur rós frontman, jónsi, is preparing to drop his debut album “go”. in the meantime, he’s planning a tour this coming spring (the only n. american date so far is coachella on april 18th) and the first single, “boy lilikoi”, has hit the airwaves. if you haven’t heard it yet, you’re definitely missing out. head on over the jónsi’s official site to listen to the track (you could always find the track at hypem…if you catch my drift) and check out his recent in-studio performance on WYNC. stay tuned for more news and updates as they come in.
i’m usually not a big fan of tribute albums, but the soon to be released bowie tribute looks very appealing. some of the highlights include warpaint, chairlift, lights, carla bruni, & duran duran. the still untitled tribute will be released on manimal vinyl and will benefit the War Child organization (helps kids whose lives have been affected by war). i’m definitely giving this a chance when the album drops this may. the tentative tracklist is below (courtesy of pitchfork):
