Phantogram teased us the last couple of years with a couple of excellent EPs, but with the release of Voices this year, the NY psych pop duo finally released a proper full-length follow up to the excellent 2009 LP Eyelid Movies. This track in particular really highlights the duo’s signature sound – complex production and infectious vocals.

Halls released one of my favorite albums of 2012 with the debut LP Ark. Wasting little time, Halls dropped Love to Give this year and totally exceeded my expectations. You really need to give this entire LP a proper listen, but if you only have time for one track, “Waves” is a must.

Mid-Week Mixtape: Post-Coachella Edition

Coachella 2011 has passed and it was amazing…or at least that’s what i’ve been told. You see, while all my friends and the music outlets I pay attention to were enjoying the abundant musical offerings, while melting in the desert, they were also constantly updating their facebook, twitters, blogs, etc. and letting everybody else know how much fun they were having.

I really wanted to go this year and there were handful of bands that I was really looking forward to experiencing live — Animal Collective, Phantogram, Duck Sauce, Crystal Castles, The New Pornographers…just to name a few.

Now I can’t complain too much. The reason I was unable to attend Coachella was because I was in New Orleans for work, but it still stung being constantly reminded of the good times and tunes I was missing out on. So, I decided to dedicate this weeks mixtape to the bands I wanted to see most at Coachella 2011.

Sasquatch! 2011

The wait is over. The official lineup for Sasquatch! 2011 is here.

The big names are a plenty (Foo Fighters, Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists, Modest Mouse, Wilco…to name a few), but it’s the slightly-lesser known artists and acts that make this lineup fantastic (Robyn, Beach House, Sleigh Bells, Das Racist, Radio Department, Best Coast, Surfer Blood, The Drums, Matt & Kim, Yeasayer, and more)!

And if the lineup wasn’t good enough news for you, in honor of the festival’s ten year anniversary Sasquatch! 2011 will continue on for a fourth day, running from Friday, May 27th through Monday, May 30th at the Gorge Amphitheatre (in George, WA).

Four day passes will run you $285 (not including parking) and are available for purchase here, while individual day tickets will go on sale Monday, February 14 at 10 am.
