Kishi Bashi has easily exceeded all of my expectations with his sophomore release Lighght. Out May 13 on Joyful Noise Recordings, the follow up to 2012’s 151a continues to showcase the brilliance that is K. Ishibashi.
I’ve been listening to Lighght nonstop since yesterday and I love it more and more with each listen. If I had to use one word to describe the album, “magical” really sums it up quite well. Standout tracks include “Philosophize In It! Chemicalize With It!”, “The Ballad Of Mr. Steak”, “Carry On Phenomenon”, and my two personal favorites, “Q&A” and “In Fantasia”.

I really enjoyed Halls’ 2012 debut LP Ark (“White Chalk” is a song i’ll love forever), but somehow I missed his latest offering this last February. Better late than never though, because i’ve been obsessed with Love To Give all week…easily one of my favorite LPs of 2014 (so far).
