[anticipation] Freelance Whales//Diluvia
Freelance Whales are gearing up for the release of their sophomore effort — Diluvia. Yet another 2012 release i’m really excited for.
After forming in 2008, the indie-pop quintet released their debut LP Weathervanes in 2009 (one of my favorites that year) and have been touring pretty much ever since. According to the press release, “Diluvia finds the New York-based five-piece, led by vocalists/multi-instrumentalists Judah Dadone and rounded out by Doris Cellar, Chuck Criss, Kevin Read and Jacob Hyman, pushing the sonic boundaries of their breakthrough debut Weathervanes. Recorded over two months in New York City with producer Shane Stoneback (Vampire Weekend, Sleigh Bells, Cults), the album is both dramatic and expansive, while retaining the homespun charm of its predecessor.”
In support of the new album, Freelance Whales have also announced an upcoming US tour. Purchase tickets to any of the shows and you’ll receive the entire new album the day it’s released. Diluvia will be released jointly by Mom+Pop Music and Frenchkiss Records on October 9.
