the swedes make some wonderful music and one of stockholm’s premier indie exports (and definitely one of my favorite bands), shout out louds, are set to release their third full-length,work, today. i’m super excited for this release. i’ve listened to about half of the album and can’t wait to listen to it in its entirety tomorrow. if the new album is anything like the past two, it will be a set of strong tunes: some acoustic laments, piano heavy love songs, and catchy (in a good way) pop tracks you can’t help but turning the volume up, singing along, and making the theme song to your all night adventures (mine is very loud, from their first release howl howl gaff gaff).
english post-punk revival band, the futureheads, recently released the video for “heartbeat song”, a new track from their forthcoming fourth album, “the chaos”. not quite sure what i think about the new track so far. i really enjoyed some of their older stuff, but then i sort of just forgot about them. “the chaos” is set to be released april 26th and i’m really hoping it’s a good one. enjoy.
UPDATE: cover art (above photo) for “congratulations” has been released. takes me back to the 16-bit sega days when i would stay up late playing sonic the hedgehog.
mgmt just released some new details of their follow up to 2007’s “oracular spectacular”. according to the band’s official site, whoismgmt.com, the new album is set to be released april 13th and will be titled the “congratulations”.

the lineup for the 2010 sasquatch festival was announced last night and as usual, it’s quite impressive. sasquatch is set to take place may 29th – 31st and will again be held at the gorge amphitheater in george, wa. some of the headliners include pavement, massive attack, mgmt, and vampire weekend.
this lineup definitely rivals coachella and that fact that it doesn’t take place in a sweaty dust bowl is big thumbs up. both festivals have outstanding lineups this year, but there are a few artists (freelance whales, telekinesis, nurses, tegan & sara) slated to perform at sasquatch only, that makes this festival the one i would rather attend (as well as the heat factor).
tickets go on sale tomorrow (feb 17) at noon EST. unfortunately, for a southern california resident with a limited cash flow, coachella is much more economical.
