[watch] Vampire Weekend//Unbelievers

Vampire Weekend performed a brand new track, “Unbelievers”, on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (they also performed “Oxford Comma” as a web exclusive).   Though they’ve been laying low for the last year or so, it looks like some new stuff is in the works.  According to Ezra Koening, “We’ve been working like maniacs for a long time. The time is not so far away, we promise.”

[on repeat] Crystal Castles//Affection

With every new track I hear, i’m getting more and more excited for Crystal Castles’ third LP, and “Affection” is exception.  I can’t wait to hear this album as a whole.  III will be available in the US on Nov. 12th, pre-order here.

[anticipation] Christopher Owens//Lysandre

Back in July, I was quite sad to hear that Christopher Owens was leaving San Francisco indie outfit Girls.  Though I wish Girls was simply on a break, I’m very much looking forward to Owens’ debut solo album, Lysandre.  Described by Owens as “a coming of age story, a road trip story, a love story,” the record was was written, recorded, and sequenced as a complete narrative, inspired by the events of Girls’ first ever tour in the summer of 2008.  Below, you can stream the album’s first two tracks — “Lysandre’s Theme” and “Here We Go”.  Lysandre will be available Jan 15th on Fat Possum Records.

Tracklist:
1. Lysandre’s Theme
2. Here We Go
3. New York City
4. A Broken Heart
5. Here We Go Again
6. Riviera Rock
7. Love Is In The Ear Of The Listener
8. Lysandre
9. Everywhere You Knew
10. Closing Theme
11. Part Of Me (Lysandre’s Epilogue)
