[on repeat] Oh Land//Bloodbuzz Ohio

Danish singer-songwriter Oh Land (aka Nanna Øland Fabricius) recently dropped quite the impressive cover of The National’s “Bloodbuzz Ohio”.  Just as Mr Little Jeans was able to take Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs” and make it her own, Oh Land does just that.  The original’s guitar has been replaced with light synths, and along with some subtle electric beats and Nanna’s dreamy vocals, a solid cover is born.  In fact, if the original wasn’t already such a favorite of mine, I could see myself believing this to be it.  I’m in love with this track right now and it’s most definitely a keeper (I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned up on this year’s 31 Days of Good).

If you have yet to check out Oh Land’s self-titled LP, which was released earlier this year, or her debut LP Fauna, what exactly are you waiting for?!

[hot off the press] Gigamesh Remixes Theophilus London

Gigamesh has been making his mark for several years in dance clubs around the world with his own popular blend of remixes, as well as his work with remix group DiscoTech, and his role in Señor Stereo, a disco influenced live-electronic group. Theophilus London did a rare LIVE performance of Gigamesh’s contest winning (check it out below) at Noisey’s “Special Engagement” concert this summer.

Starting today, you can download the track where it premiered with Interview Magazine (or on this here blog below).

[on the road] Lana Del Rey

American singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey is heading out later this Fall for a quick tour, mostly in Europe, but there are two stops in the US (NY & LA).  She’ll be touring in support of her soon-to-be released EP Video Games/Blue Jeans.  If you plan on going to any of these shows, don’t delay, tickets are going super fast.  And if you haven’t listened to “Video Games” yet (you must be living under a rock, if that’s the case), do it.  Definitely one of the best tracks of 2011.

[watch] They Might Be Giants//Can’t Keep Johnny Down

They Might Be Giants just released the new video for album single “Can’t Keep Johnny Down”.  The video, which premiered earlier today with New York Magazine, is a cinematic behemoth featuring Rip Torn as a hot sauce chugging, bare-knuckled street fighter. For a taste of the action, watch the new “Can’t Keep Johnny Down” video, directed by Brian and Brad Palmer and produced by Surroud (TV On The Radio, The Drums).

They Might Be Giants new album, Join Us,  was released July 19th through Idlewild/Rounder Records. On Join Us we find the Brooklyn originals have returned to rock with an electrifying mix of clever, maddeningly catchy songwriting and studio mastery. Notorious for their energized live show, They Might Be Giants are on an international tour, hitting 6 countries and over 50 US cities. Be sure to catch TMBG live in your city! [source: girlie action]
