[hot off the press] Big Black Delta + M83
Jonathan Bates aka Big Black Delta, former touring guitarist for M83, has been asked to open for the group at Club Nokia next week. Anthony Gonzalez and Bates have collaborated together since Bates began his solo project Big Black Delta in 2010. Bates contributed vocals to M83’s highly praised album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming and produced an official remix of M83’s stellar single “Midnight City.” Together Bates and Gonzalez also produced a remix of Daft Punk’s “Fall” on the TRON: LEGACY R3CONFIGUR3D soundtrack.
Although Big Black Delta’s soundscapes are composed single-handedly in the modest confines of Bate’s home studio on a laptop, the live show is an experience unto itself. Live vocals, dancing, orchestrated light show, and dueling female drummers (Mahsa Zargaran and Amy Wood) make Big Black Delta’s set electrifying.
Big Big Black Delta and M83 will share the stage at Club Nokia on January 12th and 13th for two nights you won’t want to miss! [source: planetary group]

(1) Day of Anticipation: 2012
Now that 2011 is officially a thing of the past, it’s time to look ahead at what this brand new year has to offer us music fans. 2011 will be tough to top, but with a handful of my favorites all set to release new material, 2012 is shaping up to be a another great year. There’s only 6 hours left in 2011 (here on the west coast at least). I’ve said it a million times, but i’ll say it one more time, 2011 was a GREAT year for music lovers. Today’s GOOD are a handful of tracks to help you ring in the New Year with a bang, including The White Panda, Alan Wilkis, some Jamie xx and Childish Gambino remix action, and since i’m up in my hometown for NYE, Chico’s very own The Make.
I truly hope you all (my 3 faithful readers) enjoyed this years edition of (31) Days of Good. I definitely left some tracks out this year and i’m positive more than a fair share went overlooked, but nobodies perfect, right? Anyways, Happy New Year!
