[on the rise] Messrs

messrsnew

“Australia’s Messrs create a synth-laden sound that encapsulates nearly three decades of indie-pop.  Using the industrial beats of new wave-era Depeche Mode as a launch pad, Messrs touch on early 90s Pulp-inspired house, all the way up to their modern take on all that has come before.  The band’s debut EP Welcome To Nowhere, with it’s silky sax and pulsing beat, will put a smile on the face of anyone who has ever set foot on the dance floor in the last thirty years, but will also resonate as something startling fresh and original.” [via Planetary Group]

[on repeat] J. Cole//She Knows (feat. Amber Coffman)

j-cole-born-sinner-album-cover

J. Cole is one of my favorite hip hop artists these days, but it’s Amber Coffman’s vocals and the sampling of Cults‘ “Bad Things” that makes this track so good.  J. Cole’s latest, Born Sinner, is due out June 18th.  You can stream the new album now over at BornSinner.

[watch] Sigur Rós//Kveikur

sigur_ros_kveikur

“Kveikur” is the title track from Sigur Rós’ seventh studio album.  The new album is due out later this month, but earlier this week, the band released an intriguing new video to tide us over while we wait.  The new video is comprised of visuals used for the band’s live show, which includes repurposed footage from the British Film Institute’s archives, creating “a radiant visual representation of the band’s music.”

Kveikur will be released on June 17 internationally and June 18 in the U.S. on XL Recordings. [via Paste]
