[hot off the press] The Submarines

The latest from LA indie pop duo, The Submarines, is out today!  Love Notes/Letter Bombs is their third full-length studio album and i’m quite excited.  The good people at Paste have the album available to stream in it’s entirety.  I haven’t given the new record a proper listen, but i’m not too worried.  I’ve really enjoyed what i’ve heard thus far and if Love Notes/Letter Bombs is anything like their previous releases, i’m sure i’ll enjoy it just as much.

For more Submarines, be sure to visit their main site and check out their tour schedule (tour kicks off April 5th in Echo Park!).

[hot off the press] Childish Gambino//The Longest Text Message

Childish Gambino just dropped a brand new track, The Longest Text Message (free download, grab it now), and posted it to his SoundCloud page.  No surprise here, but I love this track.  To be honest, I don’t think there’s a track by him that I haven’t loved.

[hot off the press] MNDR Remixes

A couple of brand new MNDR remixes just dropped and they’re both available as free downloads!

The first one is an excellent remix of Cut Me Out by renowned techno producer, Hervé.  Grab the remix here and check out the original track below.

MNDR has also been working on a collection of 4-Track remixes all recorded on 4 tracks straight to analog tape.  You can download the first remix, Foster The People’s Pumped Up Kicks (MNDR 4-Track Remix), on RCRDLBL.  More 4-Track remixes are on their way, so stay tuned.

[hot off the press] Rapdragons//Natural Born Chillers

Baltimore hip hop duo Nick Often and Greg Ward, better known as Rapdragons, have been busy.

Back in 2009, the duo released their debut record, Ten Stories High, to local, regional, and bloggable acclaim. They followed that up with the remix album, Ten Stories Hijacked, in 2010.  Soon after, they released the much-anticipated mixtape album, and one of my favorites, Featuring Baltimore — a collection of hip hop tracks each sampling a different band from baltimore, including Beach House and Future Islands.

Now when I woke up this morning, I was pleasantly surprised and excited to see an email from Rapdragons waiting in my inbox announcing their latest mixtape EP, Natural Born Chillers.  I really haven’t had a chance to give the EP a proper listen, but i’m sure it won’t disappoint.  Like Featuring Baltimore, the new EP is another collection of hip hop meets indie rock…or as I like to call it, Indie Hop.  And like previous releases, Natural Born Chillers is available for free download here!

Like I said before, I haven’t given the new EP a proper listen, but so far I’m really digging the title track:

[hot off the press] RAC VOL 2

If you’re a frequent visitor/listener of the Hype Machine, you’ve more than likely listened to a RAC remix.

RAC (aka Remix Artist Collective) has worked with a boat load of well-known and influential artists/bands, such as The Shins, Bloc Party, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as well as plenty of unsigned indie bands in their early careers.  About three years ago, RAC released the remix compilation RAC VOL 1.  It premiered on Stereogum.com and was an instant hit.  Lucky for us, RAC  just released the much anticipated follow-up, RAC VOL 2, and again it’s available for free!  Below are two of favorite RAC remixes right now, but be sure to follow the links below and listen to more…you won’t be disappointed.

Phantogram – When I’m Small (RAC Mix)
Zowie – Broken Machine (RAC mix)

p.s. there’s plenty more RAC mixes available on their site (under ‘Albums’).
