some of my favorite artists could be the proud owners of a new naked golden statue come march. two of karen o’s wild things songs, “all is love” & “hideaway” (don’t get me wrong, but c’mon people… i can’t be the the only one that loves “worried shoes”?), are still in contention, along with tracks from jack white, (“fly farm blues” from it might get loud) and lykke li (“possibility” from twilight: new moon). hopefully the academy turn’s their hearing aids up so they can make some good nominations.

hot chip’s next album, one life stand, is due to be released on feb. 8, 2010. here is another track from the new album and since it’s almost christmas, i’ve included a joy division cover as a bonus.
james mercer (the shins) and danger mouse (the grey album, gnarls barkley) have launched the viral campaign for their upcoming collaborative project. they are working on this project under the name broken bells. i don’t know much more about this, except that the first single is titled “the high road” (revealed in rolling stone back in september). this project sounds super interesting, so i will try to keep you as updated as possible.
hot chip, the british electropop band probably best known for the 2008 track “ready for the floor”, tried to slip their latest single, “one life stand”, under our noses. luckily, to share it with you, because it’s another great track from 2009.
