What are your favorite new releases this week?

[anticipation] Alexander Von Mehren//Aéropop

“Following 10 years of classical music training, Alexander Von Mehren decided to build a recording studio in Bergen, Norway, and make his pop music masterpiece.  Aéropop is the culmination of five years of work, drawing inspiration from French, German, Italian and British library music, 60s/70s film soundtracks and contemporary bands like Stereolab, the High Llamas and Chicago post-rock.  We think it’s one of the more special releases we’ve heard this year.” [via Hype Machine]

Aéropop is due out September 16 via The Control Group.  You can stream a few tracks from the album below, or the entire album, courtesy of Hype Machine.

[watch] Acid House Kings//Would You Say Stop?

The latest from Sweden’s Acid House Kings, Music Sounds Better With You, is just a few days away (out 3/22, pre-order here) and other than the latest from The Go! Team (Rolling Blackouts, out now) and the upcoming release from The Antlers (Burst Apart, out 5/10), this is one of the 2011 releases i’m most excited about.

Since way back in 1991, Acid House Kings have been creating some of the best indie pop and Music Sounds Better With You will not disappoint.  The Hype Machine had the entire album available to stream a couple of weeks ago and I pretty much listened to just that for the entire week.  The video featured below is for the track, Would You Say Stop? — a track that’s pure pop bliss…and just happens to be available for free download courtesy of labrador records.

[watch] Oh Land//Son Of A Gun

Danish singer Oh Land is just about to drop her latest (self titled, out March 15th) and the good people at Hype Machine have the entire album available to stream…needless to say, I’ve kinda obsessed with Oh Land right now and just stumbled upon her video for Son Of A Gun.

Over 4 million people have viewed this video on YouTube…so there’s a good chance you’ve already seen it, but apparently I live under a rock and I just watched it for the first time today.  If you also live under a rock and haven’t watched this video, check it out below.  And even you don’t like the video, it’s really hard not to enjoy the song.
